Raktamokshan (Bloodletting):
Raktamokshan is a traditional Ayurvedic therapy used to remove toxins from the blood. This method is highly effective for conditions caused by blood impurities such as skin disorders, inflammation, and chronic diseases. It can be performed using methods like leech therapy or controlled bloodletting. The process aims to purify the bloodstream and balance the doshas, primarily Pitta. The treatment enhances blood circulation and strengthens the body’s immunity. Raktamokshan is carefully administered by trained professionals to ensure patient safety and effectiveness, making it a critical part of Panchakarma detoxification therapies.
Vaman (Therapeutic Vomiting):
Vaman is a therapeutic procedure in Panchakarma, aimed at cleansing the stomach by inducing controlled vomiting. It is beneficial for Kapha-dominant disorders such as asthma, chronic cough, and skin issues. The process starts with preparatory therapies, including snehana (oleation) and swedana (sudation). Herbal decoctions or medicated milk are administered to trigger vomiting under medical supervision. This therapy helps in removing excess mucus, balancing the Kapha dosha, and improving respiratory and digestive health. Vaman should be conducted in a controlled environment for maximum effectiveness and safety.
Virechan (Purgation):
Virechan is a cleansing therapy that focuses on detoxifying the gastrointestinal tract through controlled purgation. It is highly effective for balancing the Pitta dosha and treating conditions like skin disorders, hyperacidity, and liver problems. Herbal laxatives are used to stimulate bowel movements, removing toxins and excess bile from the body. Prior to the procedure, preparatory treatments such as oleation and sudation are performed. Virechan helps improve digestion, boost metabolism, and enhance overall health. This therapy is best administered under expert supervision to ensure proper results.
Nasya (Nasal Therapy):
Nasya therapy involves the administration of herbal oils or powders through the nostrils to cleanse and rejuvenate the nasal passages. It is an effective treatment for ailments related to the head and neck, such as sinusitis, migraines, and chronic colds. Nasya helps clear mucus blockages and improves respiratory functions. The therapy also has a calming effect on the mind, relieving stress and enhancing cognitive functions. Before administering Nasya, the patient undergoes preparatory procedures like facial massage and steam inhalation to open the nasal passages.
Abhyang (Full Body Massage):
Abhyang is a traditional Ayurvedic full-body massage performed using warm medicated oils. This therapy is known for its rejuvenating and healing effects. It improves blood circulation, nourishes the skin, and helps in detoxification. Abhyang balances the body’s doshas, particularly Vata, and promotes physical and mental relaxation. Regular sessions can improve sleep quality, strengthen muscles, and enhance immunity. The massage is performed with gentle, rhythmic strokes that stimulate energy points across the body. It is a key component of Ayurvedic wellness routines and Panchakarma treatments.
Swedan (Herbal Steam Therapy):
Swedan, or herbal steam therapy, is a detoxification process that induces sweating to eliminate toxins from the body. The treatment is typically performed after snehana (oleation) to open the pores and enhance the elimination of impurities. Swedan is beneficial for conditions such as muscle stiffness, arthritis, and respiratory ailments. The therapy improves blood circulation, relaxes the muscles, and promotes a sense of well-being. Herbal decoctions are often used to enhance the therapeutic effects. Swedan therapy is an essential part of Panchakarma and is tailored according to individual health needs.
Basti (Medicated Enema):
Basti is a vital part of Panchakarma therapy where medicated oils or herbal decoctions are administered through the rectum. It is highly effective for Vata-dominant disorders like joint pain, constipation, and neurological issues. The therapy cleanses the colon, strengthens the immune system, and rejuvenates the body’s tissues. Depending on the individual’s condition, oil-based (Anuvasana) or herbal decoction-based (Niruha) bastis are prescribed. This treatment not only detoxifies but also restores balance in the body. Basti is performed under expert supervision and provides long-lasting benefits for overall health.
Snehapan (Internal Oleation):
Snehapan involves the oral consumption of medicated ghee or oil to prepare the body for detoxification therapies. This Ayurvedic treatment softens body tissues, loosens toxins, and helps eliminate impurities from deep cellular levels. It is commonly used before Panchakarma treatments like Virechan and Basti. Snehapan is tailored to the patient’s constitution and health condition. Depending on the dosage and duration, it nourishes the body, balances the doshas, and improves digestion and metabolism. The therapy also strengthens the nervous system and promotes overall well-being when administered correctly.
Vasti (Herbal Decoction Therapy):
Vasti therapy focuses on balancing the Vata dosha and is a subtype of Basti. It involves the administration of herbal decoctions into the rectum to detoxify and heal the body. Vasti has profound effects on neurological, digestive, and musculoskeletal systems. It is often prescribed for conditions like sciatica, paralysis, and irritable bowel syndrome. The therapy lubricates the internal tissues, improves bowel movements, and restores energy flow in the body. Vasti is an essential part of Panchakarma treatments and provides deep detoxification and rejuvenation.
Shirodhara (Oil Dripping Therapy):
Shirodhara is a relaxing Ayurvedic therapy where a continuous stream of warm medicated oil is poured over the forehead, particularly the third eye area. This treatment calms the nervous system and balances the doshas, particularly Vata and Pitta. Shirodhara is highly effective for reducing stress, anxiety, insomnia, and migraines. The therapy induces a deep state of relaxation and promotes mental clarity. It also nourishes the scalp and improves hair health. Shirodhara sessions are typically performed as part of Panchakarma or standalone wellness therapies.
Lepan (Herbal Paste Application):
Lepan therapy involves the external application of medicated herbal pastes on specific body parts to treat skin conditions, inflammation, and pain. The paste is prepared from carefully selected herbs, oils, and minerals. This therapy provides relief from joint pain, improves skin texture, and removes toxins. Lepan is highly effective for conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and arthritis. The cooling or heating properties of the paste are tailored to individual needs. The therapy promotes healthy skin and helps in reducing swelling and inflammation in affected areas.
Cupping Therapy (Hijama):
Cupping therapy, also known as Hijama, is an ancient healing technique where cups are placed on the skin to create suction. This process improves blood circulation, removes toxins, and alleviates pain. It is effective for conditions like muscle stiffness, migraines, and respiratory issues. Dry and wet cupping methods are commonly used based on individual requirements. The therapy stimulates the body’s natural healing process and enhances overall energy flow. Cupping also helps in reducing inflammation and improving skin health. Sessions are conducted by trained professionals for safe and effective results.
Pottali Sweda (Herbal Pouch Therapy):
Pottali Sweda is a specialized Ayurvedic therapy where warm herbal pouches are massaged over the body. The pouches are filled with medicinal herbs, rice, or powders, heated, and applied to specific areas. This therapy relieves muscle pain, improves blood circulation, and reduces stiffness in joints. It is particularly effective for arthritis, sciatica, and sports injuries. The warmth from the pouches penetrates deep into the tissues, providing relaxation and detoxification. Pottali Sweda is a rejuvenating treatment that promotes flexibility and overall well-being.
Netra Tarpan (Eye Rejuvenation Therapy):

The therapy provides a cooling and soothing effect, rejuvenating the eyes and enhancing visual clarity.
